S.K. Uchila and Smt. Hemalatha S. Uchila.

In the year 2009, I ventured into the task of studying Mogaveera Community. A Website www.mogaveeracommunity.com was dedicated on 5^th January, 2012 (on my 71^st Birthday) to disply the contents of the study materials. Perhaps, I started late. Now I feel better late than never.

Based on the above website, a book “A Study of MOGAVEERA COMMUNITY” was published on 25^th April, 2013.

The Kannada translation of the above book “Mogaveera Samaja – Ondu Adyayana” was published and released on 5^th January, 2014 at Shree Mahalakshmi Temple, Uchila.

The original website was revised in the year 2014. The Kannada version “Mogaaveera Samaja – Ondu Adyayana” was uploaded in the above referred website in the year 2014.

The book in English language “MOGAVEERAS AND CHANGING VALUES” published by the Mogaveera Vyasthapaka Mandali, Mumbai was released on a function held on 7^th February, 2016 during the commemoration of 75^th year publication (Amrutha Mahosthava) of  “MOOGAVEERA” Kannada Daily by Shri Chandrashekar Palethadi, Editor of Karnataka Malla, Mumbai. The website is once again revised in the year 2019. In this revised website there are two divisions. The first division is for English literature and the second devision is for Kannada literature.  In the revised website, my book “Mogaveeras & Changing Values” is added in English division.

The English division consists of the book “A Study of MOGAVEERA COMMUNITY” and the contents of the book “MOGAVEERAS AND CHANGING V ALUES”. If all goes well, the contents of “The Fishermen of India” the proposed book (yet to be published) will be included in due course.

The Kannada division contains the contents of the book “Mogaveera Samaja – Ondu Adyayana” a translation of the above referred book in English.  Any published books or articles of the author in Kannada will be included later in this division.

My wife, Hemalatha, is the first person who shared my commitment to this project and worked behind the seen. My children Abhishek (his wife Amruta), Neeraj (his wife Sonali) and Nishit (his wife Meghashree) have helped in innumerable ways and are responsible for making me computer literate and have been my back up team. For them I say ‘I love you’.

During the period 2009 till date many have helped me to make this project a success. It is difficult to name every person and organisations supported this project. I thank one and all who helped and supported this project. Nmes of many of my well wishers and supporters are acknowledged in the books and website. But I will be failing in my duty if I do not specially acknowledge the help and support extended to the following well wishers and organisations. A few names are given below:

Shri Shankar Hosabettu who had earlier delved into the history of Mogaveera community encouraged me to take up this task and is the first person to go through the first draft and put it on the right track. I had the benefit of his vast knowledge and experience. He has also further favored me by writing “Foreword” to all my books.

Shri Upendra Hosbet, an environmentalist and friend of mine has not only contributed some write–ups but also helped in shaping this compilation by repeatedly correcting several drafts. He is the one person who has always been there to help me on a day-to-day basis. He also wrote ‘Prologue’ of the books which was published at the back cover page of the books.  His contribution in numerous ways cannot be enuerated here.

Shri Niranjan S. Kanchan and his wife Smt. Shailaja Kanchan have voluntarily taken up the task of designing first website (2012) in English. This website was visited (hits) by more than a lakh people from 5^th January, 2012 till the end of December, 2012.

Shri K. P. Mendon has supported this project by proof reading and also at all stages in preparing and publishing all the three books. Dr. G. P. Kusuma has also helped in my project in innumerable ways.

K. Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha, Uchila (DKMMS) and Mogaveera Mahajana Seva Sangha (Bagwadi Hobali-1941) (MMSSBH), Mumbai, Apex Bodies of Mogaveera Community have agreed to be the Honorary Publishers of the book.

The book “Mogaveeras & Changing Values” is a compilation of my articles written in “Mogaveera” monthly magazine and the book was published and book release was done by Mogaveera Vyavasthapaka Mandali, Mumbai.

I consider myself fortunate in releasing this book “A Study of MOGAVEERA COMMUNITY’ at the temple of our Kuladevi Shree Kulamahastri Amma at Bennekuduru (Barkur). The Kannada version titled as “Mogaveera Samaja – Ondhu Adyayana” was released at Shree Mahalakshmi Temple, Uchila.

Many of my well wishers have purchased the books in advance and distributed among many people free of cost. A few have placed advertisements in the books. But for their help the publication and distribution of the book would have been an impossible task. Their contributions were acknowledged in the respective books.

The information about Mogaveera Villages, Temples, Moolasthanas, Grama Daivasthanas and Bhajana Mandiras were collected by personal visit, gathering written documents and consulting people who knew about the history of these places. Many documents were collected and scrutinized. The relevant informations were verified.  A list of persons who helped in gathering information and who rendered help were remembered and their names were published in the books under the caption “Acknowledgements”.

The Websites and the books were reviewed and appraised by many news papers, magazines, T.V. Channels, scholars etc. and their names were published in the respective books under the head “Critics Reviews”

Shri Ramesh G. Kotian of Ornate Advertisement who has continuously extended helping hand from the beginning to the end. Shri Santosh Kadam has helped in restoring the website. He has also redesigned this website.

I tried my best to acknowledge the help and support given by my well wishers. If any name is omitted, I may be pardoned.  Once again, I express my gratitude to all people who have directly and indirectly helped me.
